A Gilmer County Sheriff's Office deputy is facing several charges after an alleged rape in December.

Sergeant Greg McClure is charged with two counts of aggravated sodomy, aggravated assault and interference with government property in connection to the incident, which allegedly happened in mid-December.

The department received a report of the crime on December 27.

County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson says McClure was off-duty at the time the incident allegedly occurred. McClure was arrested and booked into the Gilmer County Jail on January 5.

He is being held without bond.
