Aiming to go for hollistic development of border villages, the Yogi government has launched ‘Mukhya Mantri Samagra Gram Yojana’ where a martyr’s village would be known as `Shaheed Gram’ and would get all facilities including road, power, school and hospital. A decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Government spokesman Shrikant Sharma said that the scheme will be introduced in those villages which share inter-state or international borders.
“Twenty four government schemes will be introduced in these villages on a priority which include construction of roads, schools, hospitals and other basic facilities. Employment generation schemes will also be launched so that local residents could get job at their doorstep,” he said.
Sharma further said that martyr’s villages will be named as ‘Shahed Gram’ under this scheme and a statue of the martyr and a gate will be built in that village.
“A committee headed by CDO will monitor development in these villages. The government will provide extra funds for this scheme and if need be money from Legislature Area Fund (Vidhayak Nidhi) can also be used,” he said.
Environment clearance:
In another decision, the government simplified the rules for getting air and water pollution clearance certificates for industrial houses wishing to invest in UP. The certificate will be made available within 20 days against the previous norm of 40 days.
Sugar Mills:
The state cabinet also gave its nod to reopen two closed sugar mills of Sugar Corporation. The government will pump in money in Pipraich and Munderwan sugar mills which were closed own in 2008 and 1999 respectively.
Cane Development minister Suresh Rana said that both mills would have 5000 TCD capacity and would have 18 MW cogeneration plant and would help over 30,000 farmers. “The government will give Rs 401 crore for Pipraich sugar mill and while Rs 314 crore for Munderwan sugar mill,” he said adding that government has so far cleared cane arrear of Rs 8250 crore which is 90 per cent of the total due.
CNG Price:
The CNG will cost less in UP as state cabinet has slashed the tax from the existing 10 per cent to 5 per cent. The government spokesman said that CNG price was Rs 3.50 more in UP as compared to Delhi and with the reduction of tax, the price in both states will become at par.
Aanganwadi Centres:
The state government has decided to increase cost of nutritious food which is given to malnourished children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The state exchequer will bear the burden of Rs 540 crore, which would benefit a population of 1.50 crore.
In other decisions, the government reinstated services of Executive Officer of Nagar Nigam, Rampur, approved medical facilities for High Court Judges and announced creation of two blocks Sarsohan and Unevrurh in Allahabad district. The cabinet has also promulgated the Winter Session.
