Chennai: In a bid to provide youngsters a glimpse of weapons being used by the forces and to make them familiar with the Indian army, a 'Know Your Army' campaign and 'Weapon & Equipment Display and Band Concert' were conducted in the city on Wednesday. The event was conducted by the Indian army's headquarters, Dakshin Bharat Area, Chennai at Stella Maris College here as part of Army Day Celebrations 2018.

"More than a 1000 students and NCC cadets of Stella Maris College visited the weapon and equipment display exhibition and the band concert," a statement from PIB defence wing here said.

"The display gave a unique opportunity to the students to get an up-close and personal rendezvous with different weapons and equipment of Indian Army," it added.

Army officials, who were present at the expo, explained to students about the weapons and cleared their doubts. Also, the army's band presented a musical performance which thrilled the youngsters there.

"It was totally a different experience as we touched and felt many high-end army weapons for the first time. It was very memorable," said a bunch of students who witnessed the display.
