A 19-year-old youth was nabbed for molesting a minor girl at Old Ashoka Garden under Ashok Garden police station area on Monday.
According to the police, the victim was harassed and molested by the accused Neeraj Sahu who was arrested after a complaint was lodged by the victim.
In her complaint with the Ashoka Garden police the victim stated that the accused was acquainted with the victim as he is distant relative and lives in the nearby area. For the past four months the accused used to follow her on her way to school and annoyed over the teasing and molestation the victim reported the matter to the family and later complaint was lodged with the police.
The victim is a student of class XII in a private school. Since September the accused used to chase her and when the victim objected the act by the accused she was threatened of dire consequences.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 354 of the IPC and section 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act-2012.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old married woman was harassed demanding dowry at Gulmohar Colony; a case was registered by Mahila thana on Monday.
The victim Madhu Bhavsar was harassed demanding dowry by her husband Amit Bhavsar and his family members.
The victim was harassed mentally and physically. The police have registered a case under section 498 A of the IPC and section 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
