The retiring chief justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court will keep a watchful eye over the Concord courthouse with the recent addition of her official portrait.

Chief Justice Linda Dalianis' official portrait was installed in the courtroom last month. The Concord Monitor reports the portrait was painted by Stoddard artist Richard Whitney and funding for it came from Dalianis' late husband Griffin.

The state Constitution requires judges to retire at age 70. Dalianis reaches that age next October; her retirement is effective April 1, 2018.

Dalianis became the first female to serve as chief justice starting in 2010. She also was the first woman to sit on the high court after being nominated in 2000.
