The Fire Services Department has issued notices to ten shopping malls in the city for violating fire safety norms, informed Civil Defence Director BK Sharma on Tuesday.
These malls have been given a time of two months for upgrading their fire safety measures. The authorities of the malls have also been asked to adhere to 28 conditions as per the new norms.
In case of not complying with the notice, actions, including sealing of the establishments, would be taken against the malls, Sharma said.
Notably, Fire Services Department officials had a couple of days back assessed the safety status at 10 major shopping malls in the city.
Among the buildings where the fire safety audit had been undertaken were The World Shopping Mall at Kharavel Nagar, Central Mall at Saheed Nagar, Forum Mart, Big Bazzar at Kharavel Nagar, The World Shopping Mall at Nayapalli, Vishal Mega Mart at Nayapalli, Pantaloon Shopping Complex at Saheed Nagar, Pal Heights at Jayadev Vihar and BMC Bhawani Mall at Saheed Nagar.
