Elicina’s breakthrough line of snail cream skincare products, recently featured on CNN Money, is coming soon the world's largest online retailer, Amazon.com.
Elicina products are centered on the decades-old knowledge that snail mucin has the ability to help repair skin damage. This property was supported by scientific studies, indicating snail mucin helps with production of collagen and elastin through its key ingredients: hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, proteoglycans and antimicrobial copper peptides. These peptides, proteins and vitamins all are anti-inflammatory.
“Snail mucin was first used in beauty products by Chilean skincare brand Elicina in 1995,” Mark Tutton wrote in a recent CNN Money piece. “The idea came from snail farmers in the country, who claimed that scratches on their hands healed faster when they handled garden snails.”
Elicina is the market leader in snail cream, distributing today to more than 45 countries. Elicina offers hypoallergenic products that are safe for people of all ages, containing 80 percent snail mucin. The line of products being brought to Amazon.com includes regular and pocketsize versions of Eco Elicina Eye Contour Cream, Nourishing Cream and Moisturizing Cream, all recently repackaged to suit U.S. guidelines.
“Elicina products have anti-aging effects ranging from helping to remove wrinkles and blemishes, to helping repair scar tissue and reducing acne,” Elicina General Manager Paula Bascunan said. “We offer different products for different skin types — creams with added moisturizers for people with extra dry skin, hypoallergenic creams for people with sensitive skin. We have something for everyone.”
Snail mucin is the common term for the snail extract, referred commonly as “snail secretion filtrate” on cosmetic ingredient lists. The nutrients in snail mucin are common in cosmetics due to research showing they benefit skin.
Elicina’s products are all derived from the Helix Aspersa Muller snail, of the species Cornu Aspersum, which is native to Chile. No snails are harmed in the mucin-harvesting process Elicina uses.
