DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Wednesday (January 10) marking the historic Homecoming Day of the great leader.
The premier placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in the city’s Dhamondi area at around 7:00am.
After paying tributes, she stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of Bangabandhu.
Later, as the president of Awami League, Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu along with the senior leaders of her party.
Leaders and activists of AL’s associated organization also paid homage to Bangabandhu.
Wednesday is the 47th Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu.
On January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu returned to Bangladesh via London and New Delhi from his captivity in Pakistan. He also took oath of office as the country's premier on that day.
