Dalit organisations staged a protest in Belagavi on Monday, against Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde’s alleged derogatory statements against the Constitution by showing him black flags. Activists gathered at the Rani Channamma Circle and shouted slogans against the Minister when he arrived here.
They called him a “Manuvadi opposed to Ambedkar’s ideals”. Some of them tried to block his car near the CADA office, while others showed black flags, before the police took them away.
Later, Mr. Hegde, who addressed BJP workers, said that the party was sure of coming to power in the 2018 Assembly elections.
