Based on a Fellini film, "Nine" is about a director recalling the women who influenced him.
In the musical “Nine,” film director Guido Contini struggles to come up with an idea for his latest movie. With a score by Maury Yeston and a book by Arthur Kopit, Guido recalls the many women who have influenced his life since he was a child, from his mother to his wife, actresses and his mistress. Cory Boyas directs the Manatee Players production, which features Omar Montes as Guido, and such Manatee regulars as Sarah Cassidy, Christina Capehart, Melanie Bierweiler and MariAnne Hernandez. The musical is based on Federico Fellini’s film “8 1/2.”
“Nine” runs Thursday through Jan. 28 at the Manatee Performing Arts Center, 508 Third Ave. W., Bradenton. Tickets are $27-$37. More information: 941-748-5875; manateeperformingartscenter.com
