At 26, with her due date approaching, Tiana didn’t have a home where she could bring her baby.
She was sleeping in her car and couch-hopping to escape a toxic relationship.
Maggie’s Place, a Phoenix non-profit providing ongoing support to pregnant women and mothers in need, provided Tiana security and stability for the first time in her life, she said.
She’s now employed, is working toward a degree. With help from Maggie's Place, she has learned how to better care for her infant son, Czar.
Maggie’s Place provides for immediate needs such as shelter, food and clothing, as well as ongoing support to help women be successful when they leave.

Tiana moved into Maggie’s Place on the same day as her intake interview.
With the support of her family coach, she enrolled in a medical assistant program through the Pima Medical Institute and got a job to support herself and Czar while she works toward her license.
Her goal is to be hired on after her internship and to find an apartment for her family.
Through Maggie’s Place, Tiana attended infant safety and car seat safety classes, infant-development classes, a life-skills series, and a relationship support group.
“The things offered at Maggie’s Place are priceless,” she said. “They’ve made a lifelong imprint on my life and have given me stability for the first time in my life.”
Maggie's Place is among dozens of agencies across Arizona that received grants from the annual Season for Sharing program sponsored by The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com. The agency received $7,500 from last season's campaign.
There is still time to donate to this year's campaign, which continues through Jan. 31 and is in its 24th year.
