Australian skydiving company Experience Co halts trading after crash in New Zealand

An Australian skydiving company involved in a triple-fatality accident in far north Queensland in October last year is now at the centre of a crash in New Zealand.

Adventure tourism company Experience Co this afternoon put a trading halt on its shares, pending an announcement about the incident at its New Zealand-based operation NZone.

New Zealand Police say two tandem skydivers landed in Lake Wakatipu, near Queenstown, at 1:42pm local time.

One of the two men was recovered from the water and taken to hospital with minor injuries but the second man remains missing.

The search involving the Coastguard, the lake's harbourmaster, water taxis and helicopters is now underway.

Experience Co also runs Skydive Mission Beach and at least 16 other skydiving operations in Australia.

It is less than three months since mother-of-eight Kerri Pike, and instructors Peter Dawson and Toby Turner died after a mid-air collision in Mission Beach.

It was the company's first fatal tandem skydiving incident.

An investigation into that incident is still underway, with Queensland police preparing a report for the coroner.

Experience Co has been contacted for comment.
