The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against former deputy chief minister R. Ashoka in connection with alleged irregularities in regularisation of bagair-hukum land during 1998-2006.
In an official statement, ACB said that following a preliminary inquiry based on a complaint they received, an FIR under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered on Monday, naming R. Ashoka as one of the accused.
During that period, R. Ashoka was chairman of the Bengaluru South Taluk Land Regularisation Committee in his capacity as the BJP MLA representing Uttarahalli.
ACB sleuths have arrested four officials — Ramachandriah, the then tahsildar of Bengaluru South taluk; revenue inspectors Gavi Gowda and Chowda Reddy; and village accountant Shashidhar in connection with the case. The arrested persons were produced in court and taken into police custody, the statement said.
