After all the controversy, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone‘s Padmavat (formerly known as Padmavati) is all set to release on January 25, 2018. This means Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period film is all set to clash with Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte’s Padman. Directed by R Balki, Padman is an inspirational film, which aims at spreading awareness about periods and sanitary napkins across the world. If it would have got a free run, the film would have made a huge social impact across the world. However, with Padmavat taking over a majority of the theatres, Padman is surely going to get affected. And looks like this seems to have irked R Balki!
The filmmaker says that he can’t stop anyone from clashing with his film, but he feels the box office clash between Padman and Padmavat is very silly, especially in a small industry like Bollywood. As R Balki told Mumbai Mirror, “Our film was supposed to release on Republic Day from the outset. It’s a free country and if people insist on a particular day, nobody can stop them. However, it is silly to clash in a small industry; there are enough dates for everyone. It’s not the wisest thing for films to clash.” (ALSO READ – Padman Vs Padmavat: Ram Gopal Varma is having fun on Twitter by cracking jokes on the clash)
Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, is not worried. He is confident that Padmavat will have no impact on Padman. As he revealed to the tabloid, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.” Anyway, what do you guys have to say about Padmavat and Padman‘s box office clash?
