In order to augment the fleet for the public transport system in the national Capital, the AAP Government on Tuesday approved the tender for purchase of 1,000 non-AC, standard floor cluster buses to serve the city’s rural and border areas. A decision to this effect was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
According to a Government release, “The Cabinet approved the Transport Department proposal for Request for Qualification & Proposal & Draft Concession Agreement for inviting bids for engagement of 1,000 cluster buses”.
Announcing the Cabinet decision, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the buses would cater mainly to outer Delhi and rural areas.
The buses are expected to start arriving by August and all buses will be delivered by year end, he added.
Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot also tweeted: “Delhi Cabinet approves tender for purchase of 1000 cluster buses which will cater to rural villages of Delhi.”
