TORRINGTON — A Winsted man previously accused of sexually-assaulting two women in a town bookstore has been charged in a separate case after he allegedly cashed another man’s paycheck in May 2017.
Aaron R. Bugbee, 24, listed as a resident of 426 Main St. and 234 Winsted Road, was arraigned Monday on charges of two counts of second-degree larceny and attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny, according to court records.
According to an affidavit seeking a warrant for his arrest, Bugbee is accused of cashing another man’s paycheck in May 2017 and attempting to persuade another man to cash another check for him. A third man also cashed a check connected to the case, according to the affidavit.
Bugbee denied knowing the other two men connected to the case in an interview with a Torrington police officer, according to the affidavit.
The case was transferred to the Part A docket Monday, according to court records. Bond in the matter was maintained at $1,000 cash or surety.
Bugbee was previously arrested in August 2017 after allegedly attacking two women at the Community Book Store on Main Street, according to the Winchester Police Department.
The women fought back against their attacker and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Bugbee also was listed as a resident of 426 Main St. and 434 Main St., Winsted, in court documents connected to that case.
He previously pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal attempt to commit first-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree assault on people over 60 and breach of peace, according to state judicial records.
Bugbee is next scheduled to appear in court Feb. 9 in connection with both cases.
