Mumbai: The Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj comes in a rescue of Miss India Tourism Ishika Taneja to help in procuring a passport for her assistant on the emergency basis. Taneja recently broke her elbow and she needed to fly to Malaysia to participate in Miss World Tourism which is scheduled on January 27.

Due to her medical condition, she needed her assistant with her. Despite repeated attempts when her assistant failed to get a passport, Sushma Swaraj extended her helping hand. Mumbai-based Ishika Taneja, 27, who won the Miss India Tourism title in 2016, had recently fractured her elbow after a fall. Despite her condition, Taneja was determined to participate in the pageant in Malaysia. However, her assistant, who was expected to accompany her, had been refused a passport to fly to Malaysia.

Taneja, who would need help during her Malaysia tour, immediately reached out to Swaraj on Twitter. “Dear Sushma Swaraj, Need your help urgently…I have fractured my elbow and I have to leave for Miss World Tourism on Tuesday for Malaysia. My assistant does not have a passport, I need to travel with me due to a medical reason. The passport office is unable to solve my problem so urgently. It is my humble request to issue her a passport on Tuesday so that I can participate and make our nation proud,” Taneja’s tweet to Swaraj read.

Swaraj immediately took notice of the request and replied to her tweet around 11 pm on Monday night. “Yes, we will help you. My office will contact you tomorrow morning,” her reply stated. Despite repeated attempts, Taneja was unavailable for comment.
