ROCKFORD — Police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect who on Tuesday afternoon was caught on surveillance robbing a bank.
The man sometime around 3 p.m. entered Associated Bank, 4400 Center Terrace, and presented a note to one of the tellers that implied he had a weapon and demanded money, according to a news release. No weapon was displayed.
The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash then fled the bank on foot. Nobody was injured during the incident.
The suspect — a larger-built black man in his 40s, about 6 feet, 1 inches tall and 250 pounds — was last seen wearing a red hat, sunglasses, gray hooded sweatshirt, gloves and a white mask similar to a surgical mask covering his lower face.
The Rockford Police Department and FBI are investigating. Anyone with information should contact the Investigations Bureau at 779-500-6551, CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867 or the local FBI office.
