BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – A week after it voted to end the controversial Sound to Olympics pedestrian bridge project, the island's City Council reversed course and voted to revive the project at its Tuesday meeting.

Councilman Matthew Tirman confirmed early Wednesday morning that the body voted 4-3 to reconsider the project, with himself and council members Rasham Nassar and Ron Peltier voting against the move.

Last week, the body voted 5-2 to cancel the $3 million bridge project, which has been planned as a pedestrian and cyclist connection spanning Highway 305 at Vineyard Lane. Then, new council members Joe Deets, Nassar and Tirman voted alongside Peltier and Sarah Blossom in the majority to pull the plug on the project. Councilman Michael Scott and newly-elected Mayor Kol Medina cast votes in favor of keeping the project alive at that point.
