Family members are remembering the the surfer who died Monday on Oahu's North Shore.
The man was identified by officials Tuesday as 56-year-old Glen Jeans.
His sister, Laura Hitchens, said from a young age, surfing was Glen's passion.
"He was just doing what he loved to do and that was riding the surf," Hitchens said. "Hes in a better place right now ... he had strong faith."
Jeans was pulled unresponsive from the water at Rocky Point Monday afternoon.
He grew up in Hawaii Kai and was a professional surfer in the 80s. He also owned a popular window washing business.
Hitchens says Glen had deep connection to the islands and always had a positive attitude.
"I love you brother. I know you're riding the big waves in heaven and fishing at the same time. You'll be opening the gates of heaven to greet all of us" she said.
Jeans leaves behind a large extended family. A paddle out service for Jeans will be held at China Walls in the near future. A date has not yet been set.
