The Big Bash League gets underway on Tuesday morning.

The Big Bash League is underway with Sydney Thunder kicking off the new season against Sydney Sixers for the second consecutive season.

Title holders Perth Scorchers beat the Sixers to claim their third title in six years last season, and they begin their defence against with a repeat of that showdown on Saturday, December 23.

A familiar face for English supporters will be Kevin Pietersen who lines up for the Melbourne Stars. He will first be seen in action against Brisbane Heat on day two.

Australia’s Ashes heroes Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon are also involved in the Twenty20 competition once they have fulfilled their international duties, taking their pride of place with the Sydney Sixers.

The early favourites are Perth, who boast Cameron Bancroft, Mitchell Johnson and Mitch Marsh in their ranks.
