Logan Paul may face ‘further consequences’ from YouTube over his suicide victim video

Famous YouTuber and vlogger Logan Paul may be facing 'further consequences' from YouTube for his filming and posting a video of a suicide victim in Japan's Suicide Forest. On Twitter, YouTube acknowledged the growing frustration over lack of a response from them.

The thread read, “We expect more of the creators who build their community on  YouTube, as we’re sure you do too. The channel violated our community guidelines, we acted accordingly, and we are looking at further consequences."

Logan Paul later took down the video after it immediately started getting negative responses and severe backlash from the viewers. In the video Logan is seen to be filming the dead body up close, making inappropriate remarks about the victim and laughing at the victim's expense. With Paul having more than 15 million subscribers on YouTube, the video was intensely viral and was also #10 on trending at one point.

Many are questioning YouTube's policy and lack of responsibilities in allowing such a video to be shown on trends at the first place. YouTube said, “We know that the actions of one creator can affect the entire community, so we’ll have more to share soon on steps we’re taking to ensure a video like this is never circulated again.”

Logan tweeted out an apology saying that he was "trying to generate and raise awareness for mental health and suicide" and that "he should have never posted the video,”.

Logan is currently taking "time out to reflect on his actions". He hasn't posted any vlogs since then, however, reuploads of the suicide video keep cropping up on YouTube and it would be interesting to see what the Google-owned company does to prevent this from happening again.
