NEW MILFORD – Lori Lynn Kieras, of New Milford, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 in New Milford at the age of 56.
She was born Nov. 21, 1961, in Sharon, daughter of Leroy and Jean (Stuart) Irving of Sparta, Tenn. She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village. Lori moved from Kent to New Milford in 1988.
Lori loved to travel, especially to Wildwood, N.J., the casinos, cruises and to Tennessee to visit her parents. Her plan was to move to Tennessee after retirement.
She had many hobbies, including crafting, scrapbooking, the New York Yankees and Tim McGraw. Lori loved animals and caring for them. She adopted her cat, Zoey, from the New Milford Animal Welfare Society and she adored her “granddog,” Jax, and loved puppy-sitting him.
Lori had a big heart; she was kind, caring, loving and believed that real friends were rare. She was a real friend to many and she will be greatly missed by them.
Lori worked as a nurse for 38 years, most recently at Southbury Training School. One of her greatest joys was caring for patients, especially developmentally disabled adults.
Most of all, Lori was especially proud of her three sons, Nick, Dakota and Max. In Lori’s own words to her family and friends, “I believe that better things are ahead for you.”
She was a member of CAPS in Prospect.
Besides her parents, Lori is survived by her sons, Nicholas Passarelli of New Milford, Dakota Kieras of Danbury, and Mackenzie Doty of New Milford; and her brother, Shane Irving.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m., all at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in Lori’s memory may be made to the New Milford Animal Shelter, 8 Dodd Road, New Milford, CT 06776, or your local animal shelter.
