Comedy has been performed in some unique places in San Francisco history, including clubs, parks, art galleries, a video rental store and a laundromat.

But it’s hard to beat the hustle of Bay Area comic Anthony Medina, who for years has been hosting a thriving and free (donation recommended) monthly comedy show in a spacious performance room in the Sports Basement. And, yes, it’s a retail sports equipment store.

Medina hosts and performs at the Good Times in the Grotto comedy night, with an always diverse selection of newcomers and more seasoned Bay Area stand-up comedians.
