A Patent Facilitation Centre has been established at Science Centre near Vidhan Sabha Road in Raipur under the aegis of Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology, officials informed.
The facility had been established to help the researchers of educational and industrial institutions of the State to apply for Patents for their novel and innovative research outcomes.
Officials informed that apart from patent filing, this centre is also helping in filing for copyright, trademark, design, geographical indicators and other forms of Intellectual Properties.
The Centre is receiving good response from institutions and the number of patent filings has increased in recent past, officials informed.
Many awareness programmes and lecture series are being held in Universities and Colleges of the State to bring awareness among students and teaching community about importance of protecting their intellectual property and the method and legal process which are to be observed while filing patents at designated patent office.
The United Nations (UN) has decided to set up a Technology Innovation Laboratory in Naya Raipur.
A meeting, presided over by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh was held at his official residence last year.
During the meeting, a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) among State Government’s Electronics and Information Technology Department, International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Naya Raipur and the Telecommunications and IT division of the United Nations, officials said.
The Chhattisgarh Government is also setting up a ‘Centre of Excellence on Innovation and Technology in Education’ to manage the execution of Virtual Education Scheme with funding support from MEITY, Government of India.
Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) has initiated the Virtual Education Scheme with funding support from MEITY, Government of India, officials informed.
The project envisages leveraging technology to improve student-learning outcomes, assisting teachers through ICT enabled classrooms, building teachers capacity using online and offline platforms for teacher training, creating and providing digital content for the entire education system and support the District-State administration with relevant, accurate and timely data to inform policy decisions.
The project will look at School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education and Vocational Education.
The Scheme offers to set up a learning management system which will provide content mapped with the state syllabus to be used by teachers and students. The project is coupled with ICT at schools scheme which has a focus on secondary and higher secondary schools.The Learning Management System will further be extended to colleges, vocational institutes and ITIs.
CHiPS is the nodal agency and prime mover for propelling IT growth & implementation of the IT & e-Governance projects in the State of Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister heads the High Powered Governing Council of CHiPS. It includes Minister for Finance & Commercial Taxes, Minister for Commerce & Industry, Minister for Education, Minister for Panchayat & Rural Development, Chief Secretary, eminent persons from IT industry and a representative from the Ministry of Information Technology in Government of India. It will really work miracles for the State Capital.
The Chhattisgarh government last year had decided to launch an “Online Learning Platform” (OLP) to enable imparting of ‘Virtual Education’ in the State .
