Attic fire in Rootstown draws 3 departments

ROOTSTOWN — No one was injured Tuesday afternoon by a fire in the attic of a Sabin Drive residence.

Rootstown Fire Capt. Justin Meonske said emergency services were alerted at 12:13 p.m. after a passerby reported a possible house fire at 4233 Sabin Drive, a one-story white house on the west side of the road between Moser Boulevard and Nina Street.

Crews from the Rootstown, Brimfield and Randolph fire departments all responded to the scene, approximately 500 feet behind the Giant Eagle supermarket on Route 44.

Firefighters quickly put down the blaze, and none were injured, Meonske said.

He said the homeowner was at work and not at home at the time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate will be part of that investigation, Meonske said.
