BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — The Bozeman school board voted unanimously to build a new $7 million sports stadium just north of the current stadium.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports neighbors raised concerns about traffic and parking while a retired teacher questioned spending so much money on football.
Trustees voted 7-0 Monday to approve the schematic design for the new stadium, which would have artificial turf. The money comes out of a $125 million bond voters passed last May to build a second high school and modernize Bozeman High.
The goal is to start construction on the stadium this spring and finish this fall.
The second high school is set to open in 2020. Both schools will use the new stadium. A competition track will be built near the new high school.
