Jet Airways has sacked two senior pilots who were involved in a mid-air fight during a flight from London to Mumbai on 1 January, 2018.

The commander of the plane, which was flying 324 passengers and 14 crew members, had slapped the woman co-pilot mid-air following which she left the cockpit. Both were
derostered soon after the incident.

"Consequent to the review of the events on board Flight 9W 119 London-Mumbai of January 1, 2018, Jet Airways has terminated services of both the cockpit crew with immediate effect," a Jet Airways spokesperson said in a statement today.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had earlier suspended the flying licence of the male pilot.

The airline had on January 3 said that a "misunderstanding" occurred between the cockpit crew but it was "quickly resolved amicably" and the flight continued its journey to Mumbai and landed safely.
