New Delhi, Jan 8:  Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Kokernag of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday. A regular cordon and search operation turned into an encounter, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Twitter.

A joint team of the military’s Rashtriya Rifles, the Central Reserve Police Force and the Jammu and Kashmir Police are involved in the operation.

Speaking to PTI, an Army official said,”Two militants have been killed so far in an anti-insurgency operation in Larnoo area of Kokernag in Anantnag district.” One of the two terrorists killed in encounter was identified as Mohd Furhan Wani. The identity of second militant is yet to be ascertained.

Recently, five jawans lost their lives after terrorists stormed a training centre in Pulwama’s Awantipora in the wee hours. The terrorists first lobbed grenades and then began indiscriminate firing and entered the centre on December 26.
