No one was injured when the train crashed into the pickup truck, which was abandoned on the train tracks on Monday morning.
WEYMOUTH – No one was injured, but commuters were delayed when an MBTA commuter train crashed into a pickup truck at the Pond Street railroad crossing on Monday morning, police said.
The driver was not inside the pickup truck when it was struck by the train at 7:14 a.m. MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo tweeted the truck was “abandoned” on the tracks at the intersection of Pond and Derby streets in South Weymouth. Police said the truck was broken down.

— Joe Pesaturo (@JoePesaturo)January 8, 2018The train on the Kingston/Plymouth line had 19 passengers on board at the time of the crash, Pesaturo said. There was no damage to the Pond Street rail crossing.
The passengers on the train were transferred to another train to continue to Kingston, a spokesman for Keolis, the company that runs the MBTA’s commuter service said.
The crossing was briefly shut down to train traffic and shuttle buses ferried passengers from South Weymouth to the Braintree station where they could board another train to Boston. The crossing was re-opened by 9:30 a.m., Pesaturo said.
