Mumbai, Jan 9: Mumbai-Delhi has emerged as the third busiest air route in the world, leaving behind London-Paris or New York-Los Angeles. According to data compiled by OAG Aviation Worldwide Ltd, 47,462 flights flew between Mumbai and Delhi in the year 2017. The direct flight between Mumbai and Delhi takes less than two hours and connects the financial capital of India to the national capital.
Meanwhile, the air route that made for the busiest one according to the report, is between Seoul and Jeju Island, a small island in South Korea. The beaches and resorts of Jeju are a favourite among local holiday-makers in South Korea. In 2017, 64,991 flights flew between Seoul and Jeju, almost double the 35,000 trips on the busiest North American route, Los Angeles-San Francisco.
The second busiest air route has come out to be between Mebourne and Sydney with 54,519 flights in 2017. Los Angeles-San Francisco was the only North American entry in the top 10 busiest air routes in the world last year, according to the data.
The busiest International air route in 2017, according to the report, was between Hong Kong and Taipei.
