Philadelphia 76ers EXCLUSIVE: Why Joel Embiid will be the star of NBA London - The Chief

BOSTON CELTICS legend Robert Parish believes Joel Embiid could be the star attraction in Thursday's NBA London clash at the 02 arena.

This year's match-up between the Celtics and the 76ers has been touted as the most exciting game to come over to London in recent years.

Boston have 2016 NBA Champion Kyrie Irving along with four-time All-Star Al Horford while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are two of the most exciting prospects in the league.

They also sit atop of the Eastern Conference and have a strong chance to make a deep run in the playoffs if everybody remains healthy.

For the 76ers they are slightly further back in their development but are finally looking like a team heading for great things.

Ben Simmons is having one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory while the JJ Redick has come in to add some much-needed experience on the team.

But arguably the biggest star on the team has been Embiid, who in his second season in the NBA has been a throw-back big man in the sense of his trash-talking.

He loves to mix it up with the league's best players and is not afraid of anybody.

And Parish, known as 'The Chief' throughout his playing days, insists Boston must do everything in their power to stop Embiid dominating otherwise it could be a long night for Brad Stevens' team.

“The Celtics are trying to establish themselves and other than Kyrie, I think he’s the only really established star,” Parish told Express Sport.

“All the other young guys are still trying to establish themselves and build on their reputation.

“It will be interesting but I bet a lot of fans will come out to see what Embiid’s got to say.

“That’s going to draw people out to see if he is going to be talking trash before the game and post-game.

“Trash talking I think adds more excitement to the game and that draws fans in because they want to see what he is going to say.

“Is he going to be able to back up what he’s been saying? So I think that draws fans in too.”
