With three days left, the Government is all set to make Jharkhand Skill Summit a memorable event, if not more, as Global Investors Summit last year with Department of Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development leaving no stone unturned to make the event of distribution of 25,000 appointment letters to young professionals of the State on January 12 in Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium at Hotwar.
A senior Government official from the Department said on Monday that some 21,000 job seekers were selected through campus selection drive which was launched on November 1 last year.
More than 500 delegates from across the country and abroad are expected to witness might of government’s efforts towards skill development and job creation.
“Other than campus selection drive, we launched a similar drive here in Hotwar Sports Complex near event venue in which some 5,000 fresh selections during January 8-11 are expected by companies to take total number of job provision matching to our expectations of 25,000.
We will launch Jharkhand Skill Policy during event on January 12 on birthday of Swami Vivekananda. The event is expected to boost skill eco-system created by the government during last three years,” said Department of Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development Ajoy Kumar Singh on Monday while briefing about event.
As distributing 25,000 appointment letters at one go is practically not feasible keeping time constraints in mind, the department is planning to call only 6,000 selected candidates to the venue on the day to collect their letters in presence of Union Cabinet Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Raghubar Das along with many other Union ministers whose consent to attend the event is being awaited. Singh said that companies and delegates from Australia, Queensland, Singapore, Germany, France and many other countries are coming to witness the mega placement drive of 25,000 candidates at one go which is expected to be find place in Limca Book of Records.
“More than 75 companies of national and international stature are taking part in selection of candidates with textiles firms Welspun (Gujarat) and Best Corporation (Thirupur) selecting 870 and 800 candidates respectively.
We are pleased to have our State guys getting lucrative package which goes up to ` 6.5 Lakh annually to a Jamshedpur guy by SBI Card. Moreover, workstations of many of these candidates may be located outside Jharkhand, so we are trying to make sure that companies adhere to minimum wages guidelines,” said Singh.
While the government received consent of business trend-setters like Vandana Luthra from VLCC and ace film maker Subhash Ghai to grace the occasion, Singh said that many more such heavyweights were expected to come and see the changing face of Jharkhand in skill development.
The event will also have three sectoral seminars on topics like possibilities of skill development in Jharkhand, possibilities of entrepreneurship and jobs for future post inaugural session on the day with experts discussing the issues at length.
