The ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas has been seeing almost all the tech giants across the world display their concept models for futuristic technology, ranging from autonomous workspaces to personalised robots with never-seen-before Artifical Intelligence. One such unveiling by SanDisk recently showcases the company's prowess in the storage vertical. The company known for its memory offerings has now come up with a prototype of supposedly the world's smallest 1TB USB type-C flash drive.

Though the most storage offered in a flash drive is a feat still held by Kingston, through its last year's 2TB Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT, there are some advantages that the new SanDisk flash drive holds over it. For instance, SanDisk's prototype flash drive is much more slimmed down than how Kingston's 2TB flash drive appears. In addition, SanDisk has moved from the conventional USB 3.0 connectivity and now offers a type-C connectivity. This means that the flash drive can be directly attached to a smartphone as well to make data transfers.

Currently, the SanDisk flash drive is only a prototype, a working one though. No price or release date of the flash drive has been announced as of now.
