The government is considering a takeover of Mendis company, owned by Arjun Aloysius, in order to cover for the bond sale loss to the state, reports say. According to the presidential commission report, the loss is Rs. 11,145 million and it is recommended that the loss be recovered from Arjun.
Mendis company is a leading alcohol producer and key among Arjun’s businesses. President Sirisena said in his statement that he would not hesitate to recover the loss from the bond sale.
