CNN’s Dana Bash on Tuesday praised President TrumpDonald John TrumpHouse Democrat slams Donald Trump Jr. for ‘serious case of amnesia’ after testimony Skier Lindsey Vonn: I don’t want to represent Trump at Olympics Poll: 4 in 10 Republicans think senior Trump advisers had improper dealings with Russia MORE after a bipartisan meeting on immigration.
Bash said the meeting, in which Trump and lawmakers said they settled on parameters for a deal involving border security and protections for “Dreamers” — immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children — gave a glimpse into a leadership style that many Trump supporters had hoped for.
“I’m sure I’m going to get hit for this and I don’t really care,” Bash said. “The bottom line is … this is the presidency that many people thought Donald Trump was capable of.”
“I’m really not convinced that it would have been any different had the cameras not been in there,” she said. “Whether it sees fruition or not, this is what people who had high hopes for the Trump presidency thought it would be: meeting after meeting like this.”
Bash’s comments were rare praise from a network that is consistently at odds with the president. Trump has repeatedly attacked CNN throughout his presidency, calling negative coverage “fake news” and hitting CNN anchors and executives on Twitter.
