Pakistan- Lecturers give three-day deadline to KP govt for regularisation

(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: All College Fund Lecturers Association has given a deadline of three days to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to regularise their services.

The Association general secretary Nasrullah Khan and other office-holders said at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday that the Higher Education Department (HEC) had directed the colleges of KP to appoint over 500 lecturers from college fund and BS fund to remove shortage of teachers since the year 2000. They said there are many lecturers who are performing their duties for the last 10 years and they are still awaiting regularisation. They said they held several meetings with government officials for their regularisation, but nothing happened.

They said the government has regularised the services of employees in health and other departments and now they should also regularise the lecturers. They said there are still 1,200 vacancies of lecturers in KP.

'Many of these lecturers will get overage soon, so we want to save their careers and get regularisation for them. We will stage protest at Banigala (residence of Imran Khan) on 11 January if our demand was not accepted,' Naseerullah Khan told TNN.
