The university’s annual Ron Ianni Memorial Performance Scholarship Competition is happening at the new downtown facilities on Sunday afternoon.
Seven finalists from the music program — chosen due to their outstanding grades in performance — will be playing before a panel of jurors to win a $500 scholarship.
This year’s competitors are: saxophonist Sebastian Bachmeier, clarinetist Emilian Cailean, vocalist Jake Flynn, pianist Konrad Jarecki, jazz vocalist Lilly Korkontzelos, trumpeter Matt Lepain, and classical guitarist Daniel Turner.
They’ll be performing selections from their personal repertoires, which range from 18th century Baroque pieces to improvisations on 20th century show tunes.
Event takes place Sunday 2:30 p.m. at the new home of the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts (37 University Ave. East). Go to Rehearsal Hall AM B22.
Admission is $15. Students with ID pay $5. Tickets available at the door. Call 519-253-3000 ext. 4213 for more information.
