List of famous cricketers banned after found guilty in doping test

Recently cricketer Yusuf Pathan was suspended for 5 month on the grounds of a doping violation.The BCCI has back-dated the suspension from 15 August 2017, effectively meaning it will end on 14 January 2018. Ranji Trophy, released a statement Tuesday revealing that the 35-year-old had “inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups.”

It might be a shocking news for the fans of the cricketer but this is not new, there are cricketers who have been banned for doping, so here we present the list of some of the famous cricketers.

Shoaib Akhtar:


The former bowler of Pakistan cricketer team was a nightmare for the batsmen but he was banned for 2 years in 2006 from all cricket after a banned anabolic steroid nandrolone was found positive in the test by Pakistan Cricket Board.

Shane Warne:

The cricketer showed no mercy on batsmen when he used to bowl, the former Australian player was sent home a day before the 2003 World Cup kicked off in South Africa. The legend was banned for a year from the game after a drug test on him during an ODI series in Australia showed a positive result for a banned diuretic.

Stephen Fleming:

One of the nicest guy in world cricket the former Kiwi skipper is also in the list. He was found guilty for using Marijuana in 1993-94 along with other cricketers. Danny Morrison reported the incident to team management and Fleming was fined just 175 $ and was banned for a brief period.

Raza Hasan:

The Pakistan left-arm spinner, has been suspended from playing any form of cricket for two years, having tested positive for a prohibited substance in year 2015.

Pradeep Sangwan: 

In 2013, the BCCI banned Delhi and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer for failing a dope test during the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League.
