President Trump was greeted with jeers Monday when his motorcade approached Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta ahead of the college football national championship game between the University of Georgia and the University of Alabama.

Fans were forced to wait outside in the rain for about an hour while the stadium was locked down in preparation for Trump's appearance, according to CNN.

"Let’s just say there were plenty of boos when Trump arrived," reporter Andy Scholes wrote on Twitter.

Vice President Mike Pence is also accompanying Trump to the game.

Trump reportedly postponed his “Fake News Awards,” a mock awards show to slam the mainstream media for their coverage of his administration, until later in January so he could attend.
