Construction worker seriously shocked in Venice

He is flown to Blake Medical Center after suffering electrical burns.

VENICE -- A construction worker was seriously shocked Wednesday morning while working at Village on the Isle, the Venice Fire Department reports.

According to the City of Venice, rescuers responding at about 11 a.m. to 930 S. Tamiami Trail found a 56-year-old man lying on the ground with electrical burns. He was working on equipment in the electrical room when the accident happened, throwing him across the room.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was conscious and semi-alert.

He was flown by helicopter to the trauma center at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment.
