STAFF at a York hotel are celebrating after scooping a top national industry award.

The Principal York, in Station Road, was recognised as having the conference and banqueting team of the year in the Catey’s, which celebrates the ‘best people, places and businesses in the hospitality industry’.

The judges said they were particularly taken by the extra mile the team goes to in order to ensure visitors enjoy their stay.

Tracy Harrison, hotel general manager, said the team was “thrilled” to pick up the award.

She added: “It’s particularly important to us that the special touches we have implemented to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit have been acknowledged.”

With 11 flexible conference spaces, a purpose-built events centre and a team of 36, the hotel can accommodate up to 400 delegates and up to 200 for dinner.
