A Thibodaux man is accused of trying to kidnap a preteen girl Friday night.
Ryan Zeringue Jr., 32, 107 Vallery St., is charged with attempted simple kidnapping, possession of methamphetamine and resisting an officer. He remains in the Lafourche Parish jail on a $30,500 bond.
The girl was taking out the trash about 8:30 p.m. Friday on Locust Street when Zeringue approached and asked if her father was home, police said. Zeringue allegedly grabbed and tried to pull the girl away, but she escaped.
Police said they found Zeringue on Olive Street and that he didn't obey their commands. He allegedly kept one hand concealed before throwing an object, later identified as a flashlight.
Police said they found the flashlight in the gutter of a nearby home, and it contained about 1 gram of methamphetamine.
