The outspoken presenter blasted Theresa May’s cabinet shuffle yesterday which has resulted in two resignations and several refusing to move roles. 

Morgan, 52, branded the prime minister’s attempt as “shambolic” and explained that he believes the time is now for him to run for the top job.

He joked: “Trump kept saying, ‘I’m going to be president,’ so, I’m going to be British prime minister, I’m going to be British prime minister, I’m going to be British prime minister.

“And you know what, already people at home are going, ‘Is Piers Morgan going to be prime minister?’

“And before you know it, then I issue a statement denying obviously that I have any aspiration to be prime minister and lead the country - which everyone knows means I do - and before you know it, the bookies are out.”

Naturally, Morgan was joking and the Good Morning Britain host set about conducting a poll to see what the British public want. 

This comes after Oprah Winfrey is thought to be running for American presidency following her groundbreaking Golden Globes speech earlier this week. 

The 63-year-old fought back tears to deliver a powerful speech about the sex-scandal that is gripping Hollywood at the moment. 

She passionately told the star-studded audience that “a new day is on the horizon”, prompting many to believe she will stand against Donald Trump when the next election comes round.
