DUBAI: A repeat offender seized with 45 bullets and a drugs stash insulted and cursed policemen, a court session heard on Monday.

The unemployed Arab, 35, refused to obey police orders, insulted policemen who had been dispatched to arrest him at his home on Oct.4.2017 and resisted arrest in a bid to escape, prosecutors said.

He possessed 45 rounds of ammunition without licence. He abused morphine, 6–monoacetylmorphine, methadone, EDDP, Codeine, tetrahydrocannabinol, meth, amphetamine and Alprazolam.

He possessed with the intention of consuming half a pill of heroin weighing 5.07g, meth weighing 0.11g in addition to 18 methylphenidate pills, 7 alprazolam pills, 64 Pregabalin capsules and 993g of hashish.

During the Criminal Court questioning, he denied refusing to obey orders, insulting the policemen and resisting arrest. He admitted other charges. His lawyer asked for time to prepare. Hearing continues on Jan.29.

An Emirati lieutenant said a source alerted the Antinarcotics Department that the defendant, “a well-known repeat offender,” was once again consuming narcotics and psychoactive drugs.

The source further revealed the defendant had a stash of banned drugs. The department investigated the matter and dispatched a team to his house in Nad Al Hamar around 5:30pm.

“We found him outside the house, identified ourselves to him and told him we had an arrest warrant. He posed a lot of resistance, used foul language and screamed insults and curses at us.

“We tried shackling him but he resisted,” explained the lieutenant, adding that they employed necessary force to pin him down. They frisked him and found him with no illegal item.

A policeman combed his house and seized bullets, narcotic substances, suspicious rolls, therapeutic packets of pills and a heap of syringes from above the ceiling of a washroom in his bedroom.

He acknowledged the seizures belonged to him. Cops took him to the Antinarcotics Department from where they referred him to the forensic lab to examine his urine sample.

They were walking him to the detention ward when he got physical. He clung to the door leading to the ward. However, the cops ultimately overpowered him and threw him behind bars.
