A prominent building in downtown Belfast, Maine, forced into foreclosure by a celebrity vegan chef could have new tenants by March of this year.
An attorney for current owner Sandra Daniels hosted an auction for the building Monday that attracted no bidders. The Bangor Daily News reports Daniels' partner Jonathan Bancroft says two new tenants could sign leases on the building as early as this week.
The auction results will now be reported to District Court in Belfast, bringing an end to the foreclosure process on the building.
The building was forced into foreclosure after James Beard Award-winning vegan chef Matthew Kenney did not hold up his end of a 2013 deal to purchase the building, accruing over $47,000 in overdue payments.
