New Jersey Real-Time News
Many New Jersey schools opted for delayed openings on Tuesday, Jan. 9 to give crews extra time to salt roads slicked by ice and snow from an evening storm that left dangerous conditions throughout the state.
Temperatures on Tuesday are expected to rise well above freezing, but slippery conditions remain ahead of sunrise, the National Weather Service warned. Dozens of schools announced early dismissals or canceled after school programs on Monday as the precipitation began to fall. Gov. Chris Christie also sent state workers home early.
