EastEnders spoilers: Major character set for shock death, but who is it?

EASTENDERS fans will be seeing someone leave the soap in a body bag very soon.

Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) was declared brain stem dead by doctors at the end of last month after plummeting off the roof of the Queen Vic.

Dad Max Branning (Jake Wood) has been doing everything he can to save his daughter's life but the character is set to pass away soon.

He had refused to allow the doctors to end Abi's life, instead obtaining a court order that meant he could get a second opinion.

END OF THE ROAD: Abi will be killed off next week after her life support is switched off

EastEnders has confirmed that Abi will pass away on January 19 after doctors turn off her life support machine.

The passing of Abi, who has been on the soap for 11 years, will no doubt provide some devastating scenes as Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) says goodbye to her little sister.

Max is set to struggle after the death of his youngest daughter as he is left with the task of bringing up her premature daughter.

He will break down after trying to put together a cot that Abi ordered for her child before she died, smashing up the crib as her death begins to sink in.

Abi was seven months pregnant when she fell off the roof with her sister, but luckily the baby is so far doing well after Abi gave birth while still unconscious.

Lauren and Abi had the shock accident on Christmas Day as they tried to talk Max out of taking his own life.

He had hit rock bottom after his ex wife Tanya Branning (Joy Joyner) came back to the Square to tell everyone the truth about Max, including that he had killed the sisters' ex Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell), and tried to kill Jane Beale (Laurie Brett).

Even though Lauren has survived the horror fall, she is also set to leave the Square after struggling to cope with the loss of her sister.

It looks like after next Friday, life for the Brannings will never be the same again.
