Here is a rundown of action taken Monday night by the Terrebonne Parish Council during its committee meetings. All votes were unanimous unless otherwise noted.

BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

ACTION: Co-sponsored a request from Roux for a Reason’s second annual Gumbo Cook-off to raise funds for cancer screening and prevention to be held March 24 in downtown Houma.

ACTION: Approved a resolution to purchase two street sweepers.

ACTION: Approved a resolution to award Techline Inc., Stuart C. Irby Co., Anixter Inc. Utility and Industrial Supply and Wesco Distribution Inc. a bid to purchase new and unused transformers and wire.

ACTION: Approved a resolution authorizing the parish president to enter into a cooperative endeavor agreement with Finding Our Roots African American Museum to provide $15,000 to improve facilities and support the organization.

ACTION: Approved a resolution authorizing a re-bid for the purchase and installation of new and unused seals and baskets due to defects.

ACTION: Voted down a resolution for the construction of the Moss Park basketball pavilion through a let for bid or a request for proposals as proposed by Recreation District No. 11.

ACTION: Set a public hearing for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 to discuss an ordinance that would authorize the purchase or lease from MARFO, Inc. of property adjacent to Main Street between the Government Tower and Barrow Street for additional public parking.

POLICY, PROCEDURE AND LEGAL COMMITTEE

ACTION: Approved a request from Aqua Safety First Community Program to co-sponsor a water safety awareness and general health tips on June 2 at Dumas Auditorium and pool.

ACTION: Approved a request from Acadian Elementary School to co-sponsor the 5th annual Mudbug 5k on Feb. 24 at 1020 Saadi St.

PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE

ACTION: Authorized Terrebonne Parish Utilities Director Ernest Brown to contact vendors for quotes to purchase new security camera-equipped street lighting in accordance with a recent Attorney General’s opinion.

ACTION: Approved a resolution authorizing the parish president’s appointment of Morris P. Hebert, Inc. to provide permit monitoring of the 1-1B Forced Drainage System for Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2020.

ACTION: Approved a resolution providing for the approval of Amendment No. 1 to the engineering agreement for the Bayou Terrebonne Drainage Improvements Project.

ACTION: Approved a resolution providing for approval of Amendment No. 3 to the Hollywood Road Extension project from Valhi Boulevard to La. 182. Councilman John Navy was absent for the vote.

ACTION: Approved a resolution authorizing the execution of change order no. 1 for the Hollywood Road utility relocation. Councilman John Navy was absent for the vote.

ACTION: Approved amendment No. 7 to the forced drainage project 1-1A under statewide flood control. Councilman John Navy was absent for the vote.

ACTION: Approved a resolution recommending the award and authorizing the signing of a construction contract for the Bayou Country Sports Park soccer field parking lot. Councilman John Navy was absent for the vote.

ACTION: Approved a resolution awarding the bid for sewer gravity main replacements on Hobson and Morgan Streets off Lafayette Street to Command Construction, LLC for $963,405. Councilman John Navy was absent for the vote.

ACTION: Approved a resolution authorizing change order No. 1 for the Upper Little Caillou Drainage Pump Station.

ACTION: Approved a resolution authorizing amendment of the contract with Associated Diversified Services, inc. for annual electric utility.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING COMMITTEE

ACTION: Approved a resolution supporting the National Flood Insurance Program and authorizing the parish president to provide information to the congressional delegation and other parties to support Terrebonne Parish’s interests in flood insurance and the Coalition for Sustainable Food Insurance.

ACTION: Approved a resolution giving notice of intent to adopt an ordinance to dedicate and accept the maintenance and operation of the streets, drainage servitudes, utilities, gas, sewer and rights-of-way; energize and accept the street lights; and the incorporation of the streets for Parkwood Place Subdivision into the Enhanced 911 Emergency Response System for the purpose of providing a better means of locating addresses and calling a public hearing for at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23.
