Bangladeshis nab robber in Malaysia

DHAKA: Three Bangladeshi nationals chased down a robber who tried to flee after robbing them with a sharp weapon in Malaysia.

The incident took place on Monday morning (Jan 9) while the Bangladeshi men were standing on a papaya farming land in Malaysia’s Kepala Batas area. The robber was later handed over to Malaysian police.

Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Noorjaini Mohammad Nur said a 33-year old man was detained. Three Bangladeshis caught him in a scuffle during robbery.

It has been reported that four Bangladeshi men were standing on a papaya firming land when the robber with a sharp weapon confronted them demanding hard cash and cell phones. Once a Bangladeshi, aged around 40, refused to give cash, the robber injured him and tried to escape with 210 Ringgit and two cell phones. However, Bangladeshis chased the robber quickly and handed over to police.

Police chief ACP Noorjaini also said a lot of cash, cell phones and many robbed items including a motorcycle were recovered from the detainee’s possession. 

Moreover, the injured Bangladeshi was admitted to a clinic and currently undergoing treatment, he added.
